UNSW Engineering

From water scarcity to the energy crisis, a strained healthcare system and burgeoning cities, today’s world demands innovative solutions from inventive minds. More than just possessing technical brilliance, the engineers of tomorrow need to understand the interplay between various disciplines and sectors, and be equipped with the mindset and skills to collaborate for implementable outcomes that serve the greater good.

Recognised as Australia's top engineering faculty and a renowned leader throughout the world, UNSW Engineering is home to many such talented and accomplished engineers who are pursuing ground-breaking research and development. Our reputation is built not only upon our research quality, but also our proven capacity to deliver viable solutions to some of the biggest global challenges of the 21st century.

A leader in solar energy, we have pioneered an invention that is transforming the way electricity is generated and used. In collaboration with a range of partners, we have developed the world’s first fully implantable bionic eye system.

And many more future-shaping discoveries are in the making across our four priority areas: energy, biomedical and health, water and civil engineering. Philanthropic investment can accelerate their progress, to improve the infrastructure and technologies that support the way we live. With your support and partnership, we can make great strides.

UNSW Science

Scientific discovery and innovation hold the key to many of the grand challenges facing humanity. At this crucial time of exponential change, we need now more than ever to harness the power of inquiry and develop our collective knowledge-base to address pressing global concerns, from climate change to the future of big data.

UNSW is a powerhouse for scientific learning and research. Our imperative is to foster research outcomes that positively impact society. From chemistry and marine biology to quantum physics and biotechnology, we’re home to world renowned experts who conduct leading-edge research and direct our centres of excellence.

Our esteemed researchers are building quantum computers, predicting climate change and developing new models for treating human disease. They are collaborating across disciplines and partnering with government and industry to arrive at implementable solutions. Their natural curiosity and eagerness to advance knowledge is equalled by their passion for environmental and social justice.

UNSW Science is a hub for discovery that transforms society. Your philanthropic investment can spark insights and innovations that make a resounding positive impact.

UNSW Arts & Social Sciences

To address many of the underlying problems of today’s increasingly complex world, we need to glean a deeper understanding of human beings in all their dimensions. To shape our collective future for the better, we need to think deeply and critically; to probe at notions surrounding equity, identity and social cohesion.

Driven by world-leading scholars pushing the boundaries of knowledge in core humanities and social sciences, researchers at UNSW Arts & Social Sciences strive to make the world a better place. Our unique commitment to social issues and justice helps solve the world’s greatest challenges. Our cutting-edge research covers topics as diverse as early modern philosophy, gendered violence and the ethics of surveillance. Our research is both progressive and social engaged, and it enriches the public debate and enhances policy formation to improve outcomes for communities and societies across the globe.

Philanthropy is a powerful catalyst for social change. With your investment, we can generate the insights that are needed to improve the human experience, paying particular attention to the needs of the marginalised and underserved.

The law is not an end in itself, but can be used for both good and ill. It can marginalise and harm, as well as lift up those in need and form a society based on values such as fairness, equality and the rule of law.

UNSW Law plays a key role in this process. Widely regarded as one of Australia's top law schools, UNSW Law is committed to the notion that the law must serve the needs of the community. We are making an impact by finding solutions to real-world issues and improving access to justice for some of the world’s most marginalised people. We influence debate, shape policy and drive innovation across a range of pressing social and environmental justice issues.

The Faculty is a hub for thought-leadership, and we have in our midst some of the world’s most highly-regarded and influential minds. Together, we have made ground-breaking advancements towards constitutional reform to ensure First Nations Australians will have a strong voice in policy and laws that affect them. We have influenced new policy frameworks and operational responses for people displaced by disaster and climate change. And we have made progress towards gender equality. Yet, there is still so much more we need to do.

Philanthropy is a powerful vehicle for change. UNSW Law has a range of priority initiatives requiring philanthropic investment. With your support, we can make headway towards a fairer, more just society.
