Evaluating Australia’s responses to domestic and family violence during the pandemic

Evaluating Australia’s responses to domestic and family violence during the pandemic

As one unfortunate direct impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, experts predict an increase in the prevalence and severity of domestic and family violence (DFV).

This research project seeks to develop innovative strategies and inform policy to protect families, and help the workforce supporting people experiencing DFV.

This project aims to investigate the short-term impact of the pandemic, and policy responses to the pandemic, on DFV in Australia. It will provide critical new knowledge on:

  • Whether and in what circumstances the anticipated escalation in DFV has occurred
  • How Australian frontline services and government agencies have responded – including innovative and effective responses
  • The implications for long-term policy and program responses to DFV.
